Become an athlete
Our local sport programs welcome athletes as young as 12, with no upper age limit. Athletes are welcome to participate in as many sports as desired. Athletes can participate in one or all of our11 sports programs (Basketball, Golf, Floor Hockey, Nordic Skiing, Softball, Swimming, Soccer, Track & Field, Indoor and Outdoor Bocce and Curling). These programs are run seasonally on a weekly basis by our dedicated coaches and volunteers.
Review the individual sports pages and determine the sport(s) in which you would like to participate.
Athletes who are new to the Special Olympics movement need to register online here If you prefer to make a paper application it is available here. Once done simply contact one of the head coaches listed on the sports pages or anyone listed on the ‘Our Bylaws and our team’ page. Registration with us will require you to sign that you understand and agree to abide by the code of conduct for Special Olympics, available here.
There is a formal registration process each year in August or September for all athletes whether new or returning. This essentially consists of filling out a form that provides us with up to date contact and medical information. It also allows us to determine the number of athletes in each sport for the following year. Each year you will also be asked to affirm you agree with the code of conduct which is expressed in the following document here. If you miss the registration event you can apply through the process listed above.
Should you have any questions or concerns please contact Brockville and Area’s registrar, Teena Walker, at email@example.com or (613) 213-4777.
Most of our sport training programs take place during the evenings and weekends. Most competitions are held on weekends.
There is a yearly registration fee of $25.00 for each athlete to participate in all Special Olympics Brockville and Area programs. Currently, other than the $25 registration fee there are no additional costs for joining any of the programs.
