Become an athlete

Our local sport programs welcome athletes as young as 8, with no upper age limit. Athletes are welcome to participate in as many sports as desired. Athletes can participate in one or all of our 9 sports programs (Basketball, Golf, Floor Hockey, Nordic Skiing, Softball, Swimming, Soccer, Track & Field, and Bocce). These programs are run seasonally on a weekly basis by our dedicated coaches and volunteers.

Review the individual sports pages and determine the sport(s) in which you would like to participate.

Athletes who are new to the Special Olympics movement can either register online here or fill out a copy of this paper form here. Should you choose to fill out the paper copy, contact the Registrar, see below, or one of the head coaches listed on the sports pages. Regardless of which registration method you choose you will need to sign that you understand and agree to abide by the code of conduct for Special Olympics, available here.

There is a formal registration process each year in September for all athletes whether new or returning. This essentially consists of completing page 1 – 4 of the Registration form noted above. This is required in order that current emergency and medical information is available to all of the volunteers and coaches. Each year you will also be asked to affirm you agree with the code of conduct which is expressed in the following document here. If you miss the registration event in September you can apply through the process listed above.

Should you have any questions or concerns please contact Brockville and Area’s registrar, Teena Walker, at or (613) 213-4777.

Most of our sport training programs take place during the evenings and weekends. Most competitions are held on weekends.

There is a yearly registration fee of $25.00 for each athlete to participate in all Special Olympics Brockville and Area programs. Currently, other than the $25 registration fee there are no additional costs for joining any of the programs.
